Naturally Sweet Easter Treats

If you want to give your children a delicious treat this Easter without all the GMOs, processed sugar, artificial colors, flavors, dairy and dyes you’re in the right place! I know “Natural” is an over-used term for marketing products that are often farm from it, but I promise these treats are as close to nature as you can get.┬áIt can be hard to live a healthy lifestyle that challenges the norms of our society, but you can win over friends and relatives with these treats, along with your dedication to the wellbeing of your family.

These vegan “Date Eggs” are super easy and have endless possibilities. Once you make your date paste you can add, cocoa powder for a chocolately flavor, shredded coconut, seeds such as hemp, chia or pumpkin, ground nuts like walnuts, cashew or almond. You can also add spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg or cardamom. You can even add vanilla and food grade essential oils such as lavender. For a more decadent treat you can add raw almond butter, cocao nibs, coconut oil or tahini. Chilling before serving will give the treats a firmer consistency.

Another fun idea for a natural Easter treat is coconut cream painted kiwi eggs. This is great for families with little ones who are allergic to eggs, vegan/vegetarian children who don’t consume animal products, or the adventurous who just want to try something fun and deliciously good for you! You can also use cashew cream for decorating.

For coconut cream use fresh young coconut with meat and a portion of the water in a blender. You can also use canned coconut cream.

For cashew cream soak 1 cup cashews for 1 hour or overnight. Blend with 1-2 tbs water with 1 tbs of agave nectar or honey.
